OUR COMMON HOME
Dear Friends, The warming of Earth’s climate is among the most complex and urgent challenges facing life on Earth. We are witness to historic weather events — an onslaught of snow, sleet, and freezing rains, unheard of heatwaves and tinderbox conditions. The number of fires for 2021 has already outpaced last year's historic fire season. Similar weather events are being seen around the world.
More than 90 percent of scientists who study Earth’s climate agree that the planet is warming and that humans are the primary cause. The majority of Americans also now believe that humans contribute to climate change. But whether the science regarding climate change is agreed upon, disputed, or ignored, there is another source of knowledge that knows something of the truth: our souls.
The Spirit calls us to honor our interconnectedness with and interdependence on all of creation.
Stillpoint will periodically update this page with resource you can use to nurture a deep sense of connection with our world and all living things.
LAUDATO SI: THE POPE'S ENCYCLICAL ON OUR COMMON HOME
Read the Pope's Encyclical on climate change, The Papal letter takes its name from the invocation of St Francis of Assisi: "Laudato si', mi' Signore" which in the Canticle of Creatures reminds us just how inseparable the bond is between concern for nature, justice for the poor, commitment to society, and interior peace".
