  Welcome from the Director

Dear Friends,

It is almost a year since we presented Stillpoint: Center for Spiritual Development, to Southern Nevada. It has been a year of many blessings for us at the Center, and for those of you who were able to avail of the variety of programs offered here. In a short time Stillpoint has become a still point for many people in the midst of the frenzy of everyday life. I believe that graced energies have also overflowed out into the airwaves in our little corner of the world.

Stillpoint is located in a Business Plaza, on a busy Las Vegas street. Its location testifies to the reality that spirituality impacts all aspects of daily life. Today we are witnessing an evolution, and perhaps a revolution, of a global spiritual consciousness. It is not anything new. Anthropology and Archaeology attest to the fact that Spirituality, human kind’s search for meaning, for a sense of the Sacred, for communion with the Divine, dates back for 70,000 years. Stillpoint is a vital part of that continuing process, right here in Southern Nevada.

Our Center itself takes the visitor by surprise. On entering, one immediately experiences an air and atmosphere of stillness. One woman attests that her blood pressure drops several degrees once she walks through the door! The ambience and décor conspire to create a spiritual oasis in the desert, a place that in accord with our Mission Statement is “a gathering place that is hospitable to and nourishing of the spiritual life.” The Still Room is frequently sought out as a place of meditation and quiet escape. The library with adjoining kitchen is growing in popularity as a lunch-time place of renewal. The courtyard with its mature pine and palm trees, flowing fountain and constant bird song creates a monastery garden in an urban setting, a welcome oasis in a dry desert.

Programs at Stillpoint continue to be consistent with our Mission as an Interfaith center, and inspired by Incarnational Theology. You will see that our Fall Calendar addresses a wide area of spiritual and developmental needs. In the past year we have welcomed people from many different faith backgrounds who attended our programs or availed themselves of our facility for personal retreat days. We were delighted to host a number of Parish and Faith community retreats as Pastors and Rectors from various Denominations found Stillpoint an ideal location for leadership retreats and pastoral conferences.

Now it is with gratitude and confidence that we begin our second year together. Stillpoint has already become a significant and essential spiritual resource in Southern Nevada. We look forward to welcoming you at one of our many offerings, or come by just to sit, to be, to rest, to pray, to be still and find the One who is seeking you!

I send you blessings for the sacred journey of your life.

I send you Blessings and Peace.
