Kathleen Oettinger, M.A.,M.F.A
Spiritual Director
Education:
In addition to her degree in Art, Kathleen L.Oettinger earned a Master of Arts degree in Family Ministry/Adult education from Regis University where she is currently working towards a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. Her three year training program in Spiritual Direction was given through the Diocese of Orlando, FL and she attended and participated in Diaconate Training with her husband over a three year period through his Ordination in 1984.She serves as Pastoral care Coordinator at St. John Neumann Parish in North Las Vegas, NV.
Experience:
Kathy is an award winning artist and writer who has exhibited her work throughout the U.S. and in Canada, Finland, Russia and China and who in 1994 was recognized by former Lady Rosalynn Carter for “creativity in Service to America’s Children.”Early in her ministry work, Kathleen taught parenting programs based on Adlerian Psychology for the individual Psychology Association in Washington D.C. She ahs worked in marriage preparation programs at the national, diocesan, and parish levels for over 30 years. She received training through the Cannon Law Department at the Catholic University of America to become an advocate in the annulment process for the Diocese of Orlando FL. As Assistant for special Programs in the Family Life Bureau of the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, DC. She trained leaders and volunteers and developed and presented family enrichment and support programs including weekend family retreats. Kathleen wrote a monthly column for the Abbey Press Magazine, marriage and Family Living, Marriage and Family Living, and is currently the art editor for Presence, the official publication of Spiritual Directors, International. She has been a Spiritual Director since 2001, working with people of various faith traditions.
