Deborah has lived in Las Vegas since 1974, and worked as a teacher, an internal auditor in the gaming industry and then for Nevada Power for over 19 in a variety of increasingly responsible positions.  She served as Director of Internal Audit for Nevada Power before retiring several years ago.   

She holds a BA with honors in Fine Arts with a major in music from the University of California at Los Angeles, a BS with honors in Business Administration with a major in Accounting from UNLV, and an MBA from UNLV.  Deborah is a Certified Internal Auditor, and a member of the Las Vegas chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors. 

Since retiring from Nevada Power, Deborah has continued to serve her church, The Lakes Lutheran, in many capacities including musical support, financial assistance, women’s ministries, bible studies, and sermon studies.  She is also active in a Contemplative Outreach prayer group.  Recently she was honored by being appointed to the Board of Directors of Stillpoint Center, where she has discovered many like-minded friends and wonderful opportunities for enriching her continuing spiritual journey. 

She has three adult children, two granddaughters, and is married to Ron Helbling.
